This program sponsored by the Washington DCJCC provides volunteers the opportunity to do light carpentry and construction work to make a difference in the Washington DC low-income community. Volunteers learn light carpentry and painting while working alongside families and other community members.  Volunteers repair and renovate the homes of disabled and elderly in the DC area, community centers, non-profit organizations, and shelters.

Behrend Builders is open to volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.  Behrend Builders is a program for students and families to participate in Tikkun Olam.  Hours worked under Behrend Builders help to satisfy community service graduation requirements.

Program Details:

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9-5/ plus hours according to specific program

Eligibility: Students and adults (students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult)

Fees: Donations appreciated to help offset the cost of supplies
