Program/Service Notes:

The Fairfax Bar Association (FBA) is a voluntary professional organization with more than 2,000 attorneys practicing within the 19th Judicial Circuit of Virginia.  The FBA and its members work to improve the legal profession, the community in which they live and the administration of justice in society

Helps you determine whether the problem is truly of a legal nature or whether another service agency would be more appropriate;
We provide you with an unbiased referral to an attorney who has experience in the area of law appropriate to your needs.
During a thirty-minute consultation, the attorney will evaluate your legal situation and advise you about your options.  A fee of $40 is charged for the one-half hour consultation.

If you need an attorney but believe that you cannot afford legal fees, contact Legal Services of Northern Virginia at 703-246-4500 (call Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM only).  Legal Services provides free legal assistance to eligible low income, elderly and disabled residents of Northern Virginia.  If you are told that you do not qualify for Legal Services due to area of law or income levels, ask to be screened by them for the LRIS Modest Means Program. Legal Services does not handle any traffic or criminal matters. 
If you qualify for Modest Means, you will be assigned a case number by Legal Services of Northern Virginia and will be instructed to call the Fairfax Bar LRIS with that number.  LRIS will attempt to schedule you with an appointment to meet with one of our Modest Means attorneys.  These attorneys are a subgroup of regular full-fee attorneys and they have agreed to participate in this program as a public service to the community.  The fee for the Modest Means one-half hour consultation is reduced to twenty dollars and, if you hire the Modest Means attorney, he/she has agreed to charge no more than $75 per hour for attorney’s fees.
