The Sixth & I Historic Synagogue provides a unique Jewish and historical presence, connection and meeting place in the center of Washington, DC, the Nation’s Capital. The synagogue enhances Jewish life in the city by providing a place where individuals, groups and organizations from all branches of Judaism may gather and worship, study and socialize.  As business, retail and residential life experience a rebirth in the neighborhood, the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue takes its place as an anchor in the revitalization of the city’s downtown core- - a beautiful and meaningful link between the city’s past, present and future.
 
The newly renovated building is two blocks from the MCI Center, and is within the Rabbi Philip Rabinowitz Memorial Eruv (the Kesher eruv).  It has a 900 seat sanctuary; a lower level that can seat 170 around tables or 130 with a dance floor; and a classroom that can seat 60.  

Facility houses inspirational, cultural and educational programs that promote Jewish life in Washington. Classes are being held by Jewish Study Center, the Foundation for Jewish Life and Learning, and MesorahDC.  MesorahDC meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, Captial Kehillah on the 2nd, Hazzan Mark Novak on the 4th and Cantor Michael Mandel on the 5th.  
Rabbi Shira Stutman will lean services geared toward young adults on the 2nd Friday of every month. It includes lots of participation and music, including a band. Incorporates a social justice element as well.
Facility available for rental by organizations for activities.
 
The facility is geared for use by outside groups and is 2 blocks to the Gallery Place Metro (red, yellow, green Metro lines).  There is paid parking one block away.
