MEDBANK is a non-profit organization dedicated to accessing free prescription drugs for low-income, chronically ill Marylanders, from the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers.  

How does MEDBANK do that?

Nearly every major pharmaceutical company operates something called a patient assistance program or PAP, which allows them to provide their drugs free of charge to anyone who meets certain income eligibility requirements.  MEDBANK serves as the vital link between you and the PAP.  

Why do I need MEDBANK?

Before MEDBANK, PAP users faced mountains of time-consuming paperwork and lots of running around.  If a patient needed five or six prescriptions, he or she had to apply to as many as six company plans - and then reapply every 90 days!  On top of all that, applicants had to submit income verification, and get each form signed by a physician - and in a busy healthcare practice, that often took weeks.  MEDBANK has greatly simplified that process by creating a "one-stop shopping" approach.  One call - one eligibility screening process - one application package - one physician signoff.  Once you are approved, the drugs are then shipped directly to your physician every 90 days.  And, when eligibility renewal time comes around, we take care of that too!

How do I know if I'm eligible for the MEDBANK program?

MEDBANK clients must meet at minimum, the following criteria:

¢	You must have a gross income of at least $926 per month in a one-person household or $1070 in a two-person household.  Individual companies set the upper limits of household income.
¢	You do not qualify for Medicaid or the Maryland Pharmacy Assistance Program.
¢	You do not have other health insurance coverage that includes prescription drug benefits, unless your benefits specify a limit on the amount of coverage for prescriptions, and you have reached that limit.
