Program/Service Notes:

The National Center for Jewish Film (NCJF) is a unique nonprofit motion picture archive, distributor and resource center housing the largest, most comprehensive collection of Jewish-theme film and video in the world. The ongoing mission of NCJF is to gather, preserve, catalogue, and exhibit films with artistic and educational value relevant to the Jewish experience, disseminating these materials to the widest possible audience. NCJF’s first priority continues to be the preservation and restoration of rare and endangered nitrate and acetate films.  NCJF Hosts a Jewish Film Festival at Brandeis University every Spring.

Our complete holdings and material available for research and stock footage are not yet catalogued. To inquire about these resources, please send a fax to the attention of Mr. Pontius or E-mail pontius@brandeis.edu. Include the following information: 
1) Types of images sought in as specific a manner as possible (i.e. period, location, etc. Examples: "Pre-war European shtetls," "Jews in New York in the 1950's) 
2) The topic of the production, the name of the production, how and where the production will be distributed.
3) Fax number and phone number. 
At the earliest opportunity (1 to 5 business days, generally) a response by fax or email will be sent that will include annotations or descriptions of material in the archive which may be pertinent to the production. The researcher can then decide which films to view. Research tapes cost $10.00 each for a two week period.
