Serving the Greater Washington Area, The Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute (JYPI) is an innovative organization dedicated to helping Jewish teens learn responsible, effective philanthropy.  During a time when there is much discussion about the transfer of values from one generation to the next, we recognize that engaging and teaching youth about tzedakah, acts of loving kindness and repairing the world should become a high priority. JYPI's program provides the tools to enable teens to become community activists,empowered citizens and generous and responsible adults.  

Through informal Jewish educational programs,JYPI enriches the lives of Washington, DC area Jewish teens during their high school years, promoting life-long tzedakah.  Participants explore the world of philanthropy, increase their awareness of the diverse community needs - both Jewish and general - and strengthen their commitment to tzedakah and civic engagement.  Teens also have opportunities to take part in hands-on Service Learning activities.  This past year, through JYPI's youth philanthropy seminars, over one hundred Washington area teens will dispersed some $100,000 to worthwhile projects throughout our community and abroad.

Program Details:

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9-5

Eligibility: Jewish youth 8th-12th grade who can make a financial commitment.

Fees: Philanthropy Program 8th-9th $500 commitment/10th-12th $250 commitment. Service Learning Program $36 only.

Service Area: Metropolitan Washington Area
