These services for new Americans provide Russian-speaking immigrant families with resettlement assistance, support, services and education. Citizenship education and preparation programs help immigrants complete the citizenship application process. Kosher luncheon program for seniors on Tuesdays. Jewish holiday celebrations.   Runs daily ESOL classes for adults in the evening, seniors during the day. Serves older newcomers from the Former Soviet Union every Tuesday. English classes, citizenship preparation classes and citizenship workshops are offered to aid people as they strive to become U.S. citizens. Gateways also presents outstanding musical performances which are open to the general public, as well as special programs which are conducted in Russian.


ESOL:  Employable adults - Level appropriate English
CHILDREN: learn Jewish customs and traditions, Hebrew literacy, history, major Jewish holiday celebrations, placement for eligible newcomer children in JCC camp
TEENS: volunteer in JCC programs and learn Jewish history
ADULTS:  Jewish acculturation program,  provide connections and introductions to area synagogues, High Holidays matching - families with synagogues, participation and preparation Super Sunday.  
SENIORS:  Kosher nutrition programs Tuesdays and Friday, offer Citizenship workshops, English as a Second Language

Ages 5-17
Educational program for newly arrived Russian-speaking families with school-age children. Children learn Jewish customs and traditions, Hebrew literacy, and history. Teens volunteer in JCC programs and learn Jewish history. Evening English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes available and open to the community. Programs and ESOL classes for Russian-speaking seniors also available

Eligible persons receive assistance in completing and submitting the necessary forms to apply for
U.S. citizenship. Lawyers as well as an INS officer are present to answer questions. A professional
photographer is available to take pictures. The program is open to the community (Maryland residents
only).
