Director: Susan Van Ost, Ph.D

Assessments and Solutions' professional staff assist children, adolescents and adults find the keys to social, academic and professional success through comprehensive and individualized educational, personal, neuropsychological and behavioral assessments, detailed recommendations and "next steps", follow-up and support for implementation of recommendations and referral to local community and professional resources.

Comprehensive Assessments Include:
Educational: general intelligence, reading, math, and written expression; receptive and expressive language 
Personal: genetic, developmental, medical, school or work, and family histories 
Neuropsychological: general intelligence, executive functioning, attention, organization, memory, perception, fine motor and visual-motor and language skills 
Behavioral: input from teachers, family, or significant others 
Recommendations: appropriate interventions and accommodations by the school, family

The Assessment and Solutions team will identify the "next step" needs and develop an action plan and ongoing support that may include the following: 

Prioritize interventions and strategies defined in the evaluation 
Consult with friends, family members, teachers, school administrations and employers 
Monitor interventions and solutions that have been implemented 
Prepare parents for EMT or IEP meetings, accompany parents to school meetings, provide information on special education laws and parental rights 
Recommend alternative school placements, if appropriate 
Troubleshoot and problem-solve 
Refer to appropriate professionals and community resources
