Homecrest House is the result of the commitment by members of National Capital B'nai B'rith Lodges to promote affordable fair housing for senior citizens of limited income. The facility has grown from one apartment building to its present size of three buildings offering two levels of support for seniors and qualifying disabled adults. Our goal is to create a supportive and caring environment which promotes seniors and qualifying disabled adults to live life to its fullest potential.

Eligibility: Edwards Assisted Housing

Couple: head or spouse must be at least 62 years of age 
Single occupant: minimum age is 62 
Financial status: for rental subsidy, annual income must not exceed limits set by HUD. 
live independently with assistance provided 
self-manage incontinency if present 
accept help from staff as determined by our evaluation

The Edward's building, designed for assisted housing, sits adjacent to the Stein and Moskowitz buildings. The 42 one-bedroom apartments with modern kitchenette, walk-in showers, grab rails, smoke detectors plus sprinklers and an emergency-alert system monitored 24 hours a day, accommodates seniors who require partial assistance to live independently. Services include weekly laundry and housekeeping, assistance with transportation and other limited personal services. Three meals are provided daily and a medication reminder program is available at an additional fee.

Residents eligible for rent subsidies will pay a rental fee not to exceed a specified percentage of their income as established by HUD. A one year lease is required and rentals include all utilities except telephone and cable TV. In addition, residents eligible for Assisted Housing may secure subsidies available from the State of Maryland Department On Aging and the Montgomery County Senior Nutrition Program as determined by Homecrest House Management.

Homecrest is Kosher style, meat only.  They use parve for dairy. Purchase Kosher food and keep kosher and honor all high holidays. Use Sodexho Food Services, the General Manager has been there over 16 years and complies with the rules of purchasing and preparation. There is no certifying body.
