Beth Chai is a unique community that enjoys the full participation of believers and non-believers alike. We treat everyone in our congregation equally, including all members of interfaith families. We are part of the rich tradition of Judaism, and we draw our strength from the vast repository of Jewish sources. But we do not exist for the purpose of worshipping God. We invite you to join this independent community and help us explore, study and celebrate our Jewish heritage.

Beth Chai holds monthly Shabbat services at River Road Unitarian Church in Bethesda (6301 River Road - entrance from Whittier Blvd.) A community meal ($10 a person) is provided at 7:00 p.m. please reserve a space ahead of time. A short service (25 minutes) is held including songs and blessings. After the service there is a short break for families with young children to leave and at 8:30 there is a program.

Beth Chai celebrates all major Jewish Holiday as well as Saturday morning Shabbat services when there is a community Bat/Bar Mitzvah. Services take place at River Road. High Holiday services are free to members but require tickets for non-members.

Beth Chai runs  a family school on Sundays, 9:30-12:30, at Burning Tree Elementary school in Bethesda. While children are in class adult education is provided. Topics include history, philosophy, text study, and social action.
